Why this matters
A clear structure helps a recruiter find your experience, skills, and contact details. No template can guarantee an interview or a screening score.
Use five clear sections
Keep information relevant to the job you want.
- • Contact — name, city/state, email, and phone; a street address is usually unnecessary.
- • Summary — the role you want and experience you can support.
- • Experience — most recent first, with specific examples of your work.
- • Skills — relevant skills you actually have.
- • Education and certifications — accurate qualifications and dates.
Use relevant language honestly
Compare your experience with the job description. Use its terminology where it accurately describes your work. Avoid keyword stuffing; screening systems and employer criteria differ.
Make your experience concrete
Describe what you did and how it helped. Include quantities or results only when you can support them. Do not copy the sample employer, dates, qualifications, or achievements into your application.
Follow the requested file format
Use the format the employer requests. When both are accepted, a text-based PDF preserves layout and DOCX remains editable. Copy this template into a document editor to create DOCX, or use Print / save PDF. Check that text can be selected and that the final file has no clipped content.
