Hours a week at $20.00 Gross Social Security and Medicare Federal tax withheld Take-home
20 $400.00 $30.60 $9.04 $360.36
30 $600.00 $45.90 $30.08 $524.02
40 $800.00 $61.20 $54.08 $684.72
50, with 10 overtime hours $1,100.00 $84.15 $90.08 $925.77

This uses 7.65% for Social Security and Medicare (IRS Topic 751, updated September 24, 2026) and federal withholding for a single filer with a standard W-4, paid weekly (IRS Publication 15-T, 2026). State tax is not included. More: your first paycheck explained.

Amazon's seasonal page lists weekly pay, overtime for more than 40 hours, and time and a half for holidays. An 8-hour holiday shift at $20 would gross $240 instead of $160. Federal law does not require holiday pay (U.S. DOL, read October 31, 2026), so check that this applies to your offer. Its FAQ says hourly associates are paid every Friday. Anytime Pay lets you access pay right after a shift (Amazon, read October 31, 2026). Compare: jobs with weekly pay.

The bonus catch

Some seasonal listings carry a $1,000, $2,000 or $3,000 bonus tag (read October 31, 2026). Read the fine print on Amazon's seasonal page: bonuses are limited to select locations, "may be discontinued at any time," are "paid over multiple installments and may require employment over 180 days to receive payment."

Here is why that matters. A job that starts November 9 reaches 180 days on May 8, 2027. A seasonal job may end long before that. So do not add a bonus to your holiday budget. Before you accept, ask this, and save the answer:

"My offer shows a bonus of (the amount on your offer). What are the installment dates, and do I still get them if my seasonal job ends on its end date?"

Which schedule to pick

Amazon groups seasonal jobs by weekly hours (benefits page, read October 31, 2026):

Scroll horizontally to view every column.

Schedule Hours a week Medical today
Seasonal Full and Reduced Time 30 to 40 After 90 days of employment. Changes January 1, 2027
Seasonal Part Time 0 to 29 No medical plan listed; free medical advice line
Seasonal Flex Time 0 to 19 No medical plan listed; free medical advice line

If you need health coverage, pick 30 hours or more. Amazon says eligible employees hired before January 1 get access on that date, and those hired on or after January 1 get it from day one (October 20, 2026). This helps only if your job is still active then, so ask for your end date. Benefits vary by location and job type.

How to get hired

  1. Search your ZIP code at hiring.amazon.com. No resume is needed for most hourly jobs (FAQ, read October 31, 2026).
  2. Pick a shift and finish the application. Amazon says this usually takes about 20 minutes (hiring process page, read October 31, 2026).
  3. Go to an in-person pre-hire appointment with proof of identity and work eligibility. You are not paid for this visit, so plan your travel and time.
  4. Pass the background check and drug test, then accept the formal offer. Your offer is contingent until then.
  5. Order safety shoes with Amazon's credit of up to $110, and set up the A to Z app. Check your welcome email, because Day 1 may be at another location.

Most hourly roles have no interview; delivery driver roles do (FAQ, read October 31, 2026). You cannot choose your department before your first day (FAQ). The full process: how to get hired at an Amazon warehouse.

Who should skip it

Amazon is a poor fit if you need a guaranteed end date before you apply, cannot make an unpaid trip for the appointment, or are counting on a bonus to pay a bill. The work is physical; read the duties on your listing. Tell the truth about what you can do, and use Amazon's accommodation process if you need one. Also compare parcel jobs: UPS seasonal jobs and the full seasonal jobs hub. Dallas details are in seasonal jobs in Dallas.

What happens in January

Amazon says "for some, it's a job for the season. For others, it becomes the start of a longer career," and that seasonal hires go on to become trainers, managers and leaders (October 20, 2026). It publishes no conversion rate. Its FAQ tells former regular workers that regular "positions might not currently be available" and to sign up for job alerts (read October 31, 2026).

Listings show a "Duration" of Regular or Seasonal. Keep applying to Regular listings while you work. Details: can a seasonal job become permanent.
