Remote Job Resume: Two Full Samples, the Words Real Postings Use, and How to Describe In-Person Work Truthfully

A remote resume must show three things: customer or records work, comfort on several computer systems, and a setup you truly have. Use the words postings use, if they are true. Two full samples below. Some employers test you instead. Last reviewed November 1, 2026.

First: do you need one?

Maybe not at the first step. TTEC's FAQ describes an application, tests and a system scan, with no mention of a resume. Working Solutions asks for your experience and skills in an online profile (both read November 1, 2026). Others may ask for one, and it is still worth writing, because the application asks for the same facts.

This page adds what is different about remote jobs. If you have no job history at all, start with how to write a resume with no experience, which also covers plain layout and tracking software. The free JobPin resume template builds the page on your phone.

The words real postings use

These come from remote postings read November 1, 2026. Use a word only if it is true for you. If it is not, leave it out, because several of these get checked.

Scroll horizontally to view every column.

Words in the posting Where we read them Use it if Skip it if
"Schedule adherence" CVS Health You followed set shift, lunch and break times You only say you were never late. Say it plainly instead
"Average handle time" CVS Health Your job measured time per call or customer You never saw that number
"Quality metrics" CVS Health Someone scored your work Nobody scored it
"Navigate multiple systems" Conduent, TTEC, Foundever You used two or more programs in one job, such as a register and an inventory tool You used only one
"Data entry" Conduent, CVS Health You typed records or orders as a regular task You entered your own time card only
"Inbound calls" Conduent, Foundever Customers called you Your calls were only personal
"Appointment scheduling" CVS Health You booked real appointments You only took messages
"Type while talking" U-Haul You took notes during calls or at a counter You never did both at once
"Documentation" CVS Health, Conduent You kept records of what you did You cannot name what you recorded
"Escalating when appropriate" TTEC You sent problems to a manager, and knew when You have no example
"Bilingual" Conduent, U-Haul, Foundever You can speak and read both You took two years of school Spanish. Conduent requires fluent
"Reliable attendance" Conduent You have a record you can back up You would need to stretch it

CVS's tracked numbers are a clue to what the job is: time per contact, time unavailable, quality and schedule. So if your past job measured any of those, say so with your real number. If it did not, do not invent one.

Describe in-person work truthfully

Old advice told people to rewrite retail work as "Resolved 80+ customer inquiries per day, including escalations, with 95%+ satisfaction." Do not copy a number like that unless you counted it and can explain how. An interviewer can ask where it came from, and a made-up figure can cost you the job.

Scroll horizontally to view every column.

What you did Weak Honest and useful
Cashier "Great customer service" "Answered customer questions and handled returns at a busy register, and passed problems to a manager when needed"
Food service "Fast-paced environment" "Took phone and online orders, entered them in the register system, and fixed errors with customers"
Front desk "Office duties" "Answered phones, booked appointments in (name of system), and kept records current"
Warehouse "Hard worker" "Scanned and logged items on a handheld device, and followed written procedures"
Caregiver, unpaid "Managed a household" "Unpaid: tracked medication schedules and booked appointments for a family member, 2023 to 2025"

Three rules for remote:

  • Never write "Remote" next to a job that was not remote. A hiring manager can ask, and CVS lists prior remote experience as a real requirement.
  • Never call yourself "remote-ready" with no facts. State the setup instead.
  • Do not hide a limit. If you lack a wired connection, fix that before you claim it.

List your setup only if it is true

Several postings have hard rules, so a short setup line can help. Keep it to what you own today. Check it against the equipment rules by employer first.

Home setup: Windows 11 laptop with 16 GB of memory, wired internet (75 Mbps down, 10 up), private room with a door.

Do not list speed you have not tested, or a room that is not really private. U-Haul verifies computer and internet at the interview.

Sample 1: from retail to remote customer service

This is an invented sample: made-up name, places and numbers. Copy the layout, and replace every fact with your own true one.

MORGAN SAMPLE

Anytown, TN | (555) 555-0187 | morgan.sample@example.test

SUMMARY

Customer service worker with 2 years at a busy store counter, seeking a remote customer service job. Available Monday to Friday, 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and Saturdays.

HOME SETUP

Windows 11 laptop with 8 GB of memory | Wired internet, tested at 75 Mbps down and 10 up | Private room with a door

EXPERIENCE

Customer service clerk, Sample Home Store, Anytown, TN. June 2024 to present

  • Answer customer calls and counter questions on orders, returns and store policy.
  • Use the register, the order lookup tool and email in the same shift.
  • Enter returns and special orders, and fix errors in the order system.
  • Pass complaints I cannot solve to a manager, with notes on what was tried.
  • Follow an assigned schedule with set break times.

Cashier, Sample Burger, Anytown, TN. August 2023 to May 2024

  • Took phone orders and typed them into the register while talking with customers.

EDUCATION

Anytown High School, Anytown, TN. Diploma, 2023.

SKILLS

Typing: 40 words a minute (online test, October 2026) | Google Docs and Gmail | Conversational Spanish, not fluent

Why it works: it uses words from postings, such as calls, systems and schedule. It claims no call center, no remote history and no scores. Its Spanish line is honest, so no one offers a bilingual test it would fail.

Sample 2: back to work, aiming at records or data entry

Invented as well. Records work is scarce and often on-site or hybrid, so read the data entry reality check before you aim only here.

RILEY SAMPLE

Anytown, KY | (555) 555-0163 | riley.sample@example.test

SUMMARY

Office worker returning after time at home, seeking a records, data entry or claims job, on-site, hybrid or remote. Available Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

EXPERIENCE

Office assistant, Sample Dental Office, Anytown, KY. May 2019 to March 2023

  • Entered patient appointments and insurance details in the office system each day.
  • Compared forms with records, and fixed or reported errors.
  • Answered phones, and booked and confirmed appointments.
  • Filed and retrieved paper and electronic records.

Unpaid caregiver, family member, Anytown, KY. April 2023 to September 2026

  • Kept a medication log and appointment calendar, and handled insurance paperwork.

EDUCATION

Anytown Community College, Anytown, KY. 18 credits toward an office technology certificate, 2018 to 2019.

SKILLS

Typing: 48 words a minute (online test, October 2026) | Excel basics | Google Docs

Why it works: Conduent's data entry posting asks for 45 words a minute, a diploma and attention to detail, and O*NET lists comparing data with source documents as a core task. The gap appears honestly as caregiving, labeled unpaid. It does not claim to have finished the certificate.

Keep these off your resume

  • Your Social Security number, license number or bank details. The FTC warns that scammers ask for these to fill out "employment paperwork." See job scam warning signs.
  • Your kids' ages or your marital status. The EEOC says employers should not use these questions before an offer, so do not volunteer them on the page.

Before you send it

  1. Read the posting again, and change three words to match it, only where true.
  2. Check your state against the posting's list. See remote jobs with no experience.
  3. Save the file in the format the posting asks for.
  4. Send it through the employer's own careers site. Practice with remote interview tips.

FAQ

Should I put "remote" on my resume?

Only where it is true. Write "Remote" next to a job you really did from home. For other jobs, say in your summary that you are seeking a remote job.

What if I have never worked remotely?

Say what you have done. Show calls, computer systems, records and following a set schedule. Some jobs, such as the CVS posting read November 1, 2026, list prior remote work as a requirement. Others do not.

Which keywords should I use?

Use the exact words from the posting you are applying to, if they are true. The table above lists 12 words from postings read November 1, 2026, with notes on when to skip them.

Should I include numbers?

Only real ones you can explain. A typing score from a recent test is an easy, honest number. Do not write a customer satisfaction score you never saw.

Should I list my internet speed?

It can help, if you tested it on a wired connection, and it meets the posting's rule. Employers such as U-Haul verify computer and internet at the interview.

Do I need a resume for TTEC or Working Solutions?

Their pages read November 1, 2026, describe an application or profile plus tests, and do not mention a resume. Write one anyway, since the form asks for the same facts.

Do I need a cover letter?

Send one if the posting asks. We found no primary source showing that one helps for these jobs, so this page does not claim it does.
